History of the C10 Pickup

The Chevy C10 was one of the best-selling trucks of its time. Its popularity helped solidify Chevy as one\n of the top pickup truck manufacturers in America. Beginning in 1960, Chevrolet brought out a whole new\n model and design to their truck that had many new features. These included a drop down-center ladder\n frame which let the cab sit lower. The introduction of independent front suspension gave their trucks a\n more car-like ride. The C10 only has three generations: The first generation ranges from 1960-1966, the\n second generation from 1967-1972, and the final generation is from 1973-1987

The Chevy C10 body styles include the Stepside, Fleetside, Suburban SUV, panel truck, or a\n custom option. The Stepside had rear wheels located on the outside of the truck bed with a step mounted\n between the wheel wells and the cab. While the Stepside had dimension, the Fleetside looked more linear\n with a flat panel cargo box

In 1963 the torsion bar front suspension was replaced with coil springs. The previous\n six-cylinder engine options were also swapped out for new 230-cubic inch and 292-cubic inch engines. In\n the same year, the Chevy C line received a redesigned grille. The next change happened in 1964 with a\n curved windshield replaced the dogleg windshield.

The Glamour Pickup became a nickname for the C10 due to its remarkable good looks. The\n second-gen C10 redesigned exterior and updated suspension brought a fresh, modern style. The refresh\n gave the truck a new shape that sat lower to the ground for easier access.

The 1972 C10 Fleetside is considered by some enthusiasts to be one of the best-looking\n Chevy trucks ever made. This C10 is one of the most popular vintage trucks. The C10 was given an\n egg-crate grille and tailgate trim. The interior upgrades were increased padding and insulation, carpet,\n chrome trim, and the option for an AM/FM radio.

The C10 entirely new look with a body style that incorporated rounded corners around the\n wheel well along with a rounded windshield and door frames. The larger and wider body is what made this\n truck box-like.

For 1972 and 1973, The Chevy C10 with a 6.5-foot bed was dubbed the “Fleetwood.” The second\n choice was a narrow-width box that featured steps and exposed fenders with stand-alone tail lamps. This\n C10 is known as the “Stepside”

In 1978, Chevy offered a 5.7L V8 diesel engine for the C10. More changes occurred in 1984\n when the C trucks saw the addition of a new two-level grille. Other new features included interior door\n panels constructed from galvanized steel, non-asbestos rear brake linings, and semi-metallic front brake\n linings for the C10.

A year later in 1985, the Chevy pickups received another redesign for the\n front end that gave them an even sportier appearance.
